The Lake House, 20min from Amsterdam with views on the the water, 2-6 pers

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 7

“A fantastic House betwen two lakes on amsterdam´s border” We stayed for two nigths at Uitdamm, really on the border and 15 minutes by car from Ámsterdam. In any case well communicated by bus, bycicle. A fantastic way to visit a busy city and relax at night or in the afternoon. Really beautiful surroundings, ready to cycle, sail. Big and tidy appartament up to 6 people, with all you need. Really charming propietors. You can even get breakfast if you ask for. A real pity we only stayed two nights. We´ll try to go back in the future and to recommend The place to our friends.

“The perfect weekend on the GP amstel River” We booked a weekend on the GP amstel river and did not really know what to expect. Well we had no reason to worry, the accommodation is excellent and beautifully finished. The location was perfect being only a 15-20min walk to the city centre. If you are planning a trip to amsterdam you will not be dissappointed.

“Beautiful and Perfect Location” This apartment is just as you see in the pictures. The owner is extremely kind and inviting. The location is fabulous as just around the corner is the grocery store, ATM, etc. This was my first time to Amsterdam and hopefully not my last. It is very easy to walk anywhere (Vondel Park, Museums, Dam Square). I highly recommend staying here.

“A fantastic apartment right in the middle of the city!” I am a few months late writing this review but feel very strongly that I must tell you of our stay in late April/early May. I booked the apartment for 6 nights and it felt so much like home that we could have easily stayed 6 months! Minne greeted us at the door and insisted on carrying our luggage up the one flight of stairs to our apartment. He was a gracious host and made sure we had everything we needed. The apartment was clean and bright with all the amenities you would need. It was fabulous having a very comfortable apartment to return to each evening. The location allowed us to walk virtually everywhere we went. There are many good restaurants right around the apartment but we were also able to easily walk 15-20 minutes and get to some diverse and delicious dining options. We look forward to visiting Amsterdam again and will definitely stay here when we return.

“Great Apartment in a Perfect location” Bas was a great host! He met us when we got in (even though it was late) and told us some great ideas for things to do near by. Even though the apartment is in the basement, its well lit and didn’t feel like a basement. The kitchen was stocked with enough dishes and there was even a dishwasher (and a washer/dryer too). If you don’t know whos staying in the apartment above you, you may not want to open the blinds on the courtyard too high since they can probably see in. The wifi was a bit patchy, but Bas told us he was trying to fix the router – but I didn’t come on vacation for internet so this didn’t bug me. The location couldn’t have been more perfect!! There were several bars and restaurants close by and the Farmers market in the square was fantastic (and reasonable!!). If you’re worried about being close to red light – don’t be! Its a safe area and you’ve got to go over a few canals to get to it. You’ll be on a quiet street and you don’t hear any city noise. I would totally come back to Amsterdam and Stay here again! Definitely fell in love with Amsterdam!

“Great Host; Great Ambassador” Now three weeks in a city and culture you know virtually nothing about shall we say requires necessities over and above those of a fun filled weekend visit. My stay I am happy to say exceeded my expectations, largely do too Daniel’s hospitality. Daniel consistently made every effort to insure I was comfortable, but also well informed regarding Amsterdam and its culture. Questions (and I had many) were answered in detail without reservation, and alternative suggestion were offered freely. Daniel is a highly organized professional, and yet has the warmth, intelligence and sense of humanity you rarely find while traveling. The accommodations are immaculate, comfortable, everything advertised and more! The location was perfect for my stay as I could be anywhere in the city (main attractions) within 15-20 minutes by tram, and when exhausted out of the crowd quickly. Better yet the necessities of living were all with a 3 block walk, should I simply need groceries or my morning coffee with Wi-Fi at the local coffee house. Bottom line, I highly recommend Daniel’s Garden room, and even more important Daniel himself. You won’t find a better host, and for that matter ambassador to the beautiful City of Amsterdam! I can’t imagine staying somewhere else on my definite return.

Amsterdam apartment was perfect!” We decided to stay in Amsterdam after a week with family in England. We’ve learned that we really appreciate the space that an apartment gives us, hotels can be a lot of work. Dorine’s apartment was in a wonderful location–about a block from the Metro and two tram lines. It’s not as touristy and you fell like you’re really in a neighborhood. The apartment itself is lovely. The kitchen/dining/living room space is very generous and she does a wonderful job outfitting the kitchen for your first day’s stay. The bedroom and bathroom are downstairs. Bed is very comfortable and the rainshower in the bathroom was so reviving! Dorine was always available for questions and never interjected herself into our stay. There’s a grocer about 3 blocks away and several good bars and cafes. The Museum District is about a 20 minute walk or a short tram ride. I would love to go back in the spring, when the trees are all “leafed out.”

Linnaeus Suite: award winning apartment, with roof terrace

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 2

“Linaeus suite, an amsterdam oasis of calm” I stayed for the second time, during the christmas holiday’s, with my 11 year old daughter in the Linaeussuite in amsterdam. I was again pleased by the quiet location. Yet in the centre of amsterdam, with all its musea and attractions (and shops for my daughter) within reach. The suite itself is very welcoming, warm, yet modern. It has a large roof terrace. I will visit it once in the summer, especially for this. New were the remote controls for the heating; adjustable per degree, per room. Speaking about sustainablity! We enjoyed it once again. Well done Linaeussuite. “Great location-beautiful apartment I stayed at this lovely apartment with my daughter for five days. We had a wonderful time here. The location is perfect, close to everything you want to see, lots of restaurants, shops and of course the lovely 9 streets area which is only a few minutes walk. The apartment was very clean, the double bed comfortable, the bathroom is very modern with lots of hot water in the shower. We had everything we needed to make our stay just perfect. “just like everyone said” The airport taxi that Bas (owner) set up worked without a hitch. Bas looked in to see if he could offer anything. The apt. was as advertised and the neighborhood was full of restos and near the Metro and Tram. Bas organized the taxi back to the airport that was right on time at 5:45am.

About Amsterdam

Amsterdam is the capital city of the Netherlands and one of the most visually appealing cities in all of Europe, known for its picturesque canals throughout the city. Whether you want to take advantage of the world-famous partying in the Red Light District, the many museums throughout the Museum Quarter, or the beautiful architecture in the Old Center, this Dutch gem has it all. The majority of the tourist attractions fall within four distinct districts: The Old Center, which is the oldest and most visited area of the city; Canal Ring, the historical part of Amsterdam and labeled as a UNESCO World Heritage Site; Jordaan, a working class neighborhood full of boutiques and galleries featuring the work of upcoming artists; and Plantage, a more residential area full of parks and gardens.

Here are a few suggestions of things to do in Amsterdam:

  • Take a canal cruise: Several different companies offer these cruises, which usually last from one to two hours.
  • Red Light District: The Red Light District is a historical area of Amsterdam featuring the oldest church in the city.
  • Van Gogh Museum: This museum features the largest collection of Van Gogh paintings and drawings in the world.
  • Observe the Architecture: The Old Center is a great place to admire the city’s architecture since many of the buildings and houses date back to medieval times.

Although Amsterdam can certainly be visited year round, the biggest events in the city take place during the summer months. These include the Amsterdam International Fashion Week in July, when the city hosts runway shows with designs from top Dutch and European fashion designers; Uitmarkt, the opening of the cultural season during the last weekend of August; and the Holland Festival in June, celebrating the birth of Holland as a country. Luckily, no matter what time of year you visit, it’s easy to find a vacation rental in Amsterdam. Choose from a variety of types of homes including spacious condos, luxury villas, and trendy apartments with picturesque views of the city.
